Dior continues its love affair with Japan for Fall ’25

Dior’s love affair with Japan runs deep, from Monsieur Dior making history as the first couturier to show a collection there in 1953 to John Galliano, then the house’s creative director, channelling the drama of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, set in Nagasaki, for the spring 2007 haute couture show. So it comes as no surprise that last week the French house staged its autumn ready-to-wear show against the backdrop of Kyoto, choosing the peaceful surroundings of the Tō-ji Temple, home to Japan’s tal...

Finding a slice of Cyprus in Finchley – Larder Magazine

Every 20th of July, my grandad Takis pays a visit to my family house in Cyprus, a five-minute drive from his home. He sits diagonally from me on the sofa and sips his sweet frappe that I make especially for him. Then, I wait with anticipation. The minute he feels ready, he starts narrating the same story I hear every year, on the same summer day.

On that day, in 1974, Turkey invaded the island. They claimed it was in response to a coup engineered by the Greek junta, the authoritarian regime...

Why halloumi fries are a disgrace to my culture – Larder Magazine

The first time I tried halloumi fries, I was dumbfounded. I took a bite from the long, narrow piece – covered with red sweet chilli sauce – and all I could think was: “This is a disgrace!”

In Cyprus, we take halloumi seriously. Soft, squeaky, and salty – a texture so distinct that nothing really tastes like it. For Cypriots, halloumi is more than just a cheese: it is our proudest national creation.

Upon entering any Cypriot kitchen, you will most definitely stumble across a massive plas...
